Sometime soon, you'll be able to carpool and order food using the Uber app.
The ride-hailing service says it has plans to bring two new services to its Quebec customers: UberPOOL and UberEATS. The Journal de Montreal has reported that a spokesman from Uber Canada has told the paper that the company plans to bring the popular services to its customers in the province "in the near future". Both services are already available to users of the app in Ontario.
UberPOOL lets users who are going in the same direction share the costs of their trip by splitting an Uber. It allows users to pay a flat-rate, allowing them to save as much as 30% off what a regular UberX would cost.
Meanwhile, UberEATS lets users order meals from local restaurants and have them delivered to their front door by the company's drivers for a flat fee (currently $4.99 in Ottawa and Toronto). The company says their delivery service makes it possible for some restuarants to deliver their food to customers when they couldn't otherwise afford to.
Uber says they've seen a significant increase in traffic in Quebec since the kickoff of a one-year pilot project with the provincial government in Quebec City and Montreal this fall.
