Provincial police are looking for help in solving a murder mystery on Mont St-Hilaire.
The body of a man was found in a wooded area at the foot of the mountain on Saturday morning at about 7:30 A.M. by a passerby on an ATV.
Investigators with the Richelieu St-Laurent police noticed marks of violence on the body, leading them to suspect foul play was involved in the man's death. The case was then transferred to the Sûreté du Québec major crimes division.
Police would not specify the nature of his injuries.
"There should be an autopsy maybe this week ... trying to help investigators progress in that case" SQ spokesperson Audrey-Anne Bilodeau told CTV Montreal.
For the moment, investigators do not have much to go on. The identity of the victim is not known, and there does not appear to be any witnesses to the incident.
A search of local missing person cases did not bring up any matches with the man found dead.
Anyone with information is being urged to call provincial police at 1-800-659-4264.
