They marched 15 kilometers in support of a $15 per hour minimum wage in Quebec.
Activists, community groups and unions took part, beginning their walk at the Lionel Groulx metro station and ended at Jarry Park this afternoon.
Jasmin De La Calzada is member of the Filipino Women’s Association in Quebec, also known as PINAY.
Many of its members are temporary foreign workers.
"They are put in a precarious situation, a lot of the work they do is under vulnerable situations. They come here from the Philippines on the wish they will be working on a better situation and better life but when they come here, they realize it’s not so easy. There’s lots of situations where they have to work overtime and deal with employers who are not so nice”, said De La Calzada, who spoke with CTV.
Three provinces are raising their minimum wage to 15 dollars, Ontario, Alberta and BC.
The current minimum wage in Quebec is $11.25.
