UPDATE: Brian Doyle has been found not guilty
A 35-year-old man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run in downtown Montreal in June which left a Florida tourist with severe head injuries.
Police say Brian Doyle turned himself into police after seeing media reports about the case. He was formally charged on Sept. 19.
The incident happened at around 2 a.m. on June 24 in a parking lot at the corner of St. Laurent and De Maisonneuve Blvds. 30-year-old Zachary Zelinsky, who was visiting from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was hit by a black Infinity G37, which then fled the scene. Zelinsky spent three weeks in a coma following the accident, and is still recovering.
Doyle is free on bail pending his preliminary hearing.
