The city of Montreal is set to begin the first major snow-removal operation of the season at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening in the downtown Ville-Marie borough.
There was an operation to clean up after last week's wintry smorgasbord of precipitation, though it happened in just nine of the city's 19 boroughs.
By 7 a.m. Wednesday, crews in every borough will be on the job to clear the more than 10 centimetres of snow that fell since Monday night, with a few more centimetres expected early Wednesday morning.
About 2,200 vehicles and 3,000 city workers will be on the job over the next four days or so to clear the city's 10,000 kilometres of streets and sidewalks.
As in previous years, the city will make free parking spaces available to make it easier for you to deal with parking restrictions that may crop up on your street.
And, as usual, you can track the progress of the job by clicking on the city's official snow removal web site.
