A man who retired in September as a Montreal blue collar worker has been charged with fraud and breach of trust.
Pierre Yves Simard is one of two city workers who are suspected of accepting bribes from contractors to speed the process of hooking up their buildings to the city water supply.
The pair is suspected of accepting cash payments of $100 in each instance.
The Journal de Montreal says Simard was not in court Tuesday but was represented by a lawyer who told the judge that Simard will plead not guilty.
He will be back in court December 7th.
The investigation in the case of the second suspect is ongoing.
