A 24-year-old cyclist is in hospital after being hit by a car at the corner of Ontario St. and St. Laurent Blvd. on Thursday morning.
The incident happened at around 8:40 a.m., when an 18-year-old driver with a learner's permit tried to make a left-hand turn onto St. Laurent.
He hit the cyclist who was travelling west on Ontario.
The teen driver was alone in the car — something you can't do with just a learner's permit.
The youngster received four demerit points and a $600 fine, and was banned from driving for at least three months.
The cyclist suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive.
