Bill Carroll is host of “The Morning Rush” on Newstalk 580 CFRA airing weekdays from 6am to 10am. A veteran broadcaster with a career spanning small-town Ontario to major markets in Canada and the U.S., Bill has earned accolades including the prestigious Edward R. Murrow, RTNDA Sam Ross Awards and an RTDNA Lifetime Achievement Award. Originally from Scotland and raised in Toronto, he began his on-air journey in 1980 at CJTT in New Liskeard, Ontario, as a one-man news department—handling everything from news director to anchor and reporter. After a stint in Peterborough, Bill joined Q107 in Toronto on a news program called “Baramoter”. Here’s a fun fact! Bill was also the co-host of MuchMusic's game show spoof Test Pattern, along with Dan Gallagher. He also worked at Talk 640 as morning host, before joining CFRB – now Newstalk 1010, in 1998 – first as a weekend newscaster, then as news director, before assuming a talk show role. In October 2004, Bill was named to host Global Television's Focus Ontario, a weekly public affairs show. In 2010, he went to work at KFI in Los Angeles – one of the top rated talk stations in the United States. In a rare feat, Bill hosted shows in two countries on the same weekday—midday on KFI in Los Angeles and in the afternoon drive on AM640 in Toronto. He left AM640 in early 2016 to start his chapter at CFRA. Since then, he’s energized Ottawa’s mornings - finding the perfect balance of family, fun, and fearless opinion.
