If you were brave enough to leave your house on Sunday you were treated to a real Winter Wonderland.
More than 25 centimeters of snow fell on the island of Montreal, even more in other regions of Quebec. The strong winds not only created a bitterly cold wind-chill, but also made driving very difficult in some spots.
If you've never experienced how blowing snow can reduce your visibility a video posted to Facebook by truck driver Sebastien Cote is a great example.
Cote was one of several cars involved in a pileup on Highway 15 north in Candiac.
The accident occurs just after the 2:00 mark of the video below.
In the video you can see two Roussillon police cars on the Highway as Cote's truck comes up behind them. The vehicles then get lost in the blowing snow ahead of him. About 10 seconds later you can hear the driver scream as the snow parts and the roadway in front of him is blocked with cars. Cote is unable to avoid the collision and slams into both police vehicles seen earlier.
As it turns out the officers were responding to an accident and one of the police vehicles was involved in a collision just seconds before Cote's truck arrived.
Four people, including the police officers, were taken to hospital.
While not as spectacular as the crash on Highway 15, Montreal produced its own fun that made the rounds on social media.
An STM bus was unable to move on a slippery section of Pie-IX Blvd. near the Olympic Stadium, but managed to get back on its route thanks to a trio of Good Samaritans.
A video shows the bus strapped to a Jeep, which is strapped to an SUV, which is strapped to a second SUV leading the way. After a couple moments of spinning wheels the unconventional towing method pays off and the small convoy is able to get the bus on its way with a couple cheers from the passengers inside.
