An animal rendering plant in Rivière-des-Prairies has drawn the ire of residents - again.
They're complaining about another one of the trucks belonging to Sanimax dropping parts of its smelly load of animal carcasses and entrails on the street in their neighbourhood.
General manager Eric Caputo said their investigation shows the driver didn't follow cleaning procedures and they've taken measures against him for negligence, the company apologizing for the incident.
"Even if it does only happen once, measures will be taken against the driver or reinforced," said Caputo in an interview with CJAD 800.
"It's totally unacceptable even though it doesn't happen frequently."
But residents such as John Brandone say it's always the same song and dance.
"Was that a recording by any chance? Because it's the same message we get every time it happens," said Brandone who contacted yourstory@cjad.com.
"Even though we have few incidents, any incident is unacceptable."
Last October, a Sanimax truck spilled part of a load of animal entrails all over Henri-Bourassa Boulevard.
Residents have also been complaining over the years about the odours coming from the plant.
Brandone said they may step up pressure tactics to get Sanimax out.
"They have to be either good neighbours, which they have showed time and time again that they are not, or they simply have to move and the city has to do something about it," said Brandone.
"I've been a resident of RDP for 30 years and this has been ongoing even before I moved to RDP so we've come to a point where enough is enough."
The borough and the city say their legal case is continuing against the company and they do take this seriously.
