Carole Thomas, the Longueuil woman who made up a story about being raped back in 2014, pleaded guilty today to charges of mischief and making false accusations.
She was in court today for her preliminary hearing on those charges.
The story dates back to February of 2015, when Thomas went public with claims she was raped in Longueuil the previous October — in an incident which took place just days before a 23-year-old woman, Jenique Dalcourt, was murdered on a bike path not far away.
At the time, police described Thomas' story as suspicious, and that there were no similarities between Thomas' case and Dalcourt's murder.
Meanwhile, Thomas also apologized to a Longueuil police officer, David Lelièvre, that she had singled out in a TV interview for botching the investigation into her case.
She made her apology in a letter addressed specifically to Lelièvre.
"I recognize that [my] words went beyond simple criticism of police work, and attacked your dignity," she wrote.
In turn, the Longueuil police union withdrew legal action against her.
