Neighbours tried to save a 57-year-old woman from a fire that broke out inside her apartment in Labelle on Sunday, but authorities say the Upper Laurentian woman has since died in hospital.
The fire broke out about 6 a.m. inside the victim’s apartment, one of four units in the du Moulin St. building.
She was rescued by neighbours before firefighters arrived, but she was unconscious.
She was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but died shortly after arrival.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
