A Montreal family is considering suing the city of Montreal after a woman fell through a broken drain cover outside her home in N.D.G.
Father and daughter Lorne and Andra Dubrovsky were unloading groceries from the back of their truck parked in front of their home on Girouard St. near N.D.G. Ave. when Lorne says he heard his daughter screaming.
"I thought I ran over someone. I didn't know what happened," he says.
On of Andra's legs had slipped into a drainage grate with one of its slats missing and another one bent, leaving her with a swollen, bleeding leg.
Fortunately, it was not broken, but Andra says it was the worst possible timing for an injury.
"My wedding's in three and a half months, and all I could think about was that I had a broken or shattered knee," she said. "My leg was gushing blood, I mean, I couldn't walk."
Lorne Dubrovsky says it's time the city is held accountable for the state of the streets — adding Montrealers aren't exactly getting the kind of bang they deserve from their tax bucks.
"Someone's got to show a wake-up call to the city," he says. "They have to take care of the city."
