Tragedy in downtown Montreal Friday evening.
Fire department battalion chief Eric Martel told CJAD 800 a fire broke out in a 15-storey residential high rise at the corner of De Maisonneuve and St Timothée.
Martel said a woman's body was quickly found inside an apartment, but what caused the blaze wasn't known.
No other details were known about the victim and damage was limited to her unit.
Martel added firefighters arrived on the scene and quickly contained the blaze.
Montreal police launched an investigation since the fatal was fatal.
De Maisonneuve Blvd. was closed between Amherst St. and St-Hubert St., and St-Timothée St. was also closed between René-Lévesque Blvd. and de Maisonneuve Blvd.
