A 27-year-old motorist died Monday night after colliding with a loose horse in Oka, in the Laurentians.
Around 6 p.m. the woman, an Oka resident, was driving on Sainte-Germaine road, an unlit country road, when the woman’s car hit a horse, according to the Sûreté du Québec.
First responders tried to revive the driver, who was transported to the hospital, but her death was observed at 7:15 p.m.
Less than two hours before the accident, a rider had fallen from her horse and the animal had fled according to police.
The horse did not survive the collision.
