Some veterans are hoping Quebec will make Remembrance Day an official statutory holiday.
Parliament recently adopted a private bill making Nov. 11th an official Canada-wide holiday.
It's observed in most provinces, which have final say on the statutory holiday.
The Canadian Legion, however, is officially against C-311, arguing the importance of Remembrance Day will turn into a meaningless day off for most Canadians who get to stay home.
The Quebec provincial command supports the bill.
Yves-Thomas Dorval of the Conseil du Patronat, an employers' group, says they can't afford to pay workers another holiday.
"The question is not is it important or not, the question is do we have to add a new statutory holiday day? As employers, I would say that most of the employers will be certainly not in favour of", said Dorval.
The federal bill requires royal assent.
The issue has yet to be discussed in the National Assembly.
