Montreal police are investigating after some high-value medical equipment at St. Mary's Hospital was stolen this week, leading to the cancellations of 19 colonoscopies.
The theft apparently happened during the early morning hours of Wednesday, leading to that's day's appointments being rescheduled for later in the week.
The gastroenterology department is in the sub-basement of the hospital, with an exit door opening out on the parking lot.
The missing endoscopes are worth about $3,700 each — and it's thought that they would likely be destined for a black market overseas, where there is a high demand for colonoscopy and endoscopy equipment.
