A mother in Verdun is calling on a thief to have a heart and bring back her daughters wheelchair.
Liane Christophe took to social media after the chair was stolen from outside her home.
Her 15-year-old daughter Daphne has spina bifida and needs a wheel chair to go to school and get around town. She is able to take a handful of steps without it but right now is a prisoner in her own home without it.
On Tuesday Daphne was home from school for lunch and locked up the chair to the fence outside and crawled up the stairs to her home.
After an hour inside she went back out to find the lock had been broken and the wheelchair was gone.
Liane told the Journal de Montreal she ran out and roamed the streets in the area but found no sign of her daughters chair before ultimately filing a complaint with Montreal police.
She said it costs about $3,000 and has been adapted specifically for Daphne's back, weight and size meaning it's of no use to anyone else.
Since her original post online, several people have come forward offering a temporary replacement for Daphne.
