Being awakened early on a Saturday morning is bad enough, but it gets even worse when it's because of the jarring sound of a snow removal truck repeatedly banging its plow on the road.
That's exactly what happened to residents on and around Knox St. in the South West borough over the weekend.
One resident filmed the snowplow driver literally pounding the pavement — a video which has gone viral in the days since. Some people who left comments on the video wondered if this was some kind of replacement for the alarm snow removal trucks use to let people on the street know they're coming to work, and that any cars left on the street would be towed within minutes.
The residents' complaints made their way to borough officials, who were just as annoyed.
South West councillor Craig Sauvé says the truck belongs to the private contractor the borough hired to clear snow. He says the borough is looking into why the plow driver did what he did.
Spokesperson Julie Bellemare told QMI the actions captured on video by one resident are unacceptable — not only did the noise disturb citizens, but the repeated banging of the plow could damage the roadway and underground infrastructure.
