A surgeon who does more than 300 operations a year at the Lakeshore General Hospital on the West Island has been suspended for two months.
The Quebec Order of Physicians faulted Dr. Sharon Dalrymple for not keeping up with post-surgical paperwork in three dozen instances over two years.
In her defence, Dalrymple explained she was going through a difficult period in her personal life.
Surgeons are required to file notes on each procedure they perform within 24 hours.
In addition to the two-month suspension, Dalrymple was fined $15,000.
She has until Jan. 22 to appeal the suspension. The suspension will take effect on that day if no appeal is filed.
