He made up his mind to run again in the October election but veteran Liberal MNA Francois Ouimet has reportedly been asked by the party to make way for a new candidate in the West Island riding of Marquette.
CTV Montreal says Ouimet was informed by party organizers that he wouldn't be allowed to campaign in the Liberal fortress riding that he's held since 1994.
Ouimet is 58 years old.
Marquette covers the cities of Dorval, Ile Dorval and the borough of Lachine.
It has elected a Liberal in every election since the riding was created in 1981.
Ouimet won the riding in 2014 with 62.5 percent.
There's no word on the name of the new candidate.
