That West Island hockey coach who assigned hundreds of push-ups to his Pee-Wee players after a loss won't be behind the bench for the rest of the season.
The disciplinary committee of the Lac Saint Louis Hockey Association is suspending coach Louis Isabella until May, ruling that his punishment was abusive.
The eleven and twelve year old AAA players were made to do 300 pushups after a 7-2 loss earlier in the day.
Hockey parents from the league told CJAD they saw pictures of the children's arms which were inflamed from the work, a few kids had to miss school and visit doctors after the practice.
Lac St Louis Midget coach John Goyens said the club doesn't support such extreme coaching tactics.
"We weren't in agreement with this approach, he made a mistake in judgement in our view," says Goyen. "Just like players make mistakes, parents makes mistakes, coaches make mistakes."
Isabella was suspended temporarily during the association's investigation, they decided he would be suspended from coaching with the club until May.
