Montreal police are serving notice that they'll be watching you a little more closely as you drive through school zones in the far western part of the West Island.
Schools in the area served by Station 1 — which takes in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Senneville, Baie d'Urfé, Kirkland and Beaconsfield — have received a letter for the force advising them they will be stepping up their patrols in school zones, and handing out tickets for all manner of infractions, including speeding, distracted driving, and failing to stop at stop signs, or for school bus lights.
Pedestrians, meanwhile, may find themselves more likely to get themselves a jaywalking ticket if the infraction takes place in a school zone.
