It was a packed room at a public meeting in Cote des Neiges Tuesday night as west end residents and politicians gathered to come up with a plan to fight against Elections Quebec.
Earlier this month, the provincial agency announced the merger of the ridings of Mount Royal and Outremont.
City Councillor Marvin Rotrand says that there are concerns about Montreal losing a seat but also about the communities that will lose a voice.
"We're asking everyone to get together in the same room and decide what to do next and it looks from the legal opinion that we have, that we have a very strong case." he told CJAD 800's Aaron Rand show.
Rotrand isn't ruling out legal action to contest the proposed change.
Former MP Marlene Jennings tells CTV Montreal she's appalled by the decision and plans to head a citizens' committee to raise funds for the court case.
"We need to go to court and we need to put our money where our mouth is." she says.
