The Welcome Hall Mission is starting a new way of giving food to the needy.
Instead of lining up to get bags of groceries, people now scan membership cards and then pick out items at the food bank that's set up like a grocery store - the "Marché Bon Accueil."
"I think it means everything for them because it's an opportunity for them to come and get food for free and do it in an atmosphere that promotes dignity and a sense that they're not getting a handout," said CEO and executive director Sam Watts.
The 125-year-old food bank got the idea from similar small scale operations in other North American cities.
The Welcome Hall Mission distributes food to over 2200 people a week.
