Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Montreal and the surrounding area for Friday.
A low-pressure system arriving from Colorado is expected to arrive in southwestern Quebec by midday on Friday. Combined with temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, we could see anywhere from 2 to 5 millimetres of freezing rain.
The weather office says there is a possibility of ice buildup on streets, sidewalks and power lines, and is urging people to exercise caution while walking or driving.
By Friday evening, the freezing rain is expected to change over to straight rain as the temperature edges above freezing.
By Saturday, skies will have cleared out, and we're expecting a high of 5 degrees — 7 degrees above normal for this time of year.
