The Heavy Montreal festival, loved by heavy metal rock fans and loathed by peace-and-quiet-loving south shore residents, won't take place in 2017.
Concert promoter Evenko made the announcement in a YouTube video which was made public on Wednesday. Evenko's Nick Farkas cites several factors, including the planned refurbishment of Parc Jean-Drapeau in the summer of 2017, and a busy concert schedule for metal fans next year — a schedule which includes Guns N' Roses' long-awaited Montreal comeback show at Parc Jean-Drapeau on Aug. 19.
The weekend festival will return to Parc Jean-Drapeau at the end of July, 2018.
