It's still not clear what led to a tragic accident involving a snow removal truck and a 50-year old man in NDG.
The pedestrian was struck and killed overnight near Sherbooke and Girouard.
The truck was heading west and turned left onto Girouard.
The victim was dragged about about 50 metres.
According to police, the driver wasn't speeding or drinking.
21-year old Jessica Holman-Price died in similar fashion exactly 11 years ago in Westmount.
Her mother, Jeanette, has led a national campaign requiring large trucks to install side guards.
"That man would be here tonight had there been a side guard on that truck. That driver would not have had to worry about what was going on", said Holman-Price.
Authorities say the tragedy is a stark reminder to be extremely careful around large trucks because of their colossal blind spots.
Anie Samson, who's in charge of public security for Montreal, said the city is working on outfitting all its trucks with additional safety bars and is looking into requiring the same measures for contracted trucks.
