The city of Paris was caught in the grips of a rush-hour snowstorm earlier this week — a tame one by Quebec standards, but one which warranted extensive coverage on some of the major French TV news networks.
One Quebec man poked fun at their coverage rebroadcast on the specialty network TV5, and posted his commentary on Facebook — and now, people in France can't seem to get enough of Luc Monette.
Since Monette posted the two-minute video on his Facebook page Tuesday night, it has been seen more than three million times, and it has earned Monette writeups on some of France's major news outlets, including Le Monde and RTL.
In classic Québécois French, he chastises a field reporter on a snow-covered highway, shouting, "well, YOU'RE the one who's standing in the middle of the highway blocking traffic!" Later, he's heard saying, "they're rolling on asphalt, and they're freaking out!" while a helicopter camera hovers over an interchange.
