Prime Minister Trudeau's Montreal riding office was the scene of a protest calling for greater gun control.
A group of Montreal university students, part of a gun control campaign called ‘Not Here,’ sported targets on their chests.
"We want the government to take action. It has promised so many things, it promised to take handguns and assault weapons off our streets and what has it done? Nothing", said spokesperson Wendy Vasquez, who spoke with CTV.
The group saod New Zealand banned assault weapons just days after last month's mass shooting in Christchurch mosques that killed 50 people.
"This shows that a government can act on the matter,” said Quebec Student Union President Guillaume Lecorps.
"This shows how fast they can act when you have the political courage and you make it a priority to act", he added.
Students from the Ecole Polytechnique Students’ Association also attended the protest.
14 women were killed, 14 people were injured during a mass shooting at Ecole Polytechnique in 1989.
