Severe criticism for a plan to cut trees in Parc Jean Drapeau.
They're being cut to make way for a new venue seating 65,000 people.
It'll be used for events such as Osheaga.
CTV's Max Harrold reported the opposition isn't impressed.
"Even though it will lead to a year round, concrete amphitheater, brand new for all those concerts, the opposition at city hall says what about the nature, the trees, some of the reasons Montrealers go to the Jean Drapeau parc in the first place. The exact number of trees to be torn down was not known until today and the oppostion Projet Montreal says that shows how poorly planned this entire thing has been from the very start", said Harrold.
The 73-million dollar plan was first announced in 2015, but won't be ready, as expected, for Montreal's 375th birthday this year.
It'll be ready, it seems, in 2018.
