Congregants of a Haitian church in east end Riviere-des-Prairies are in shock after an overnight fire.
Holding back tears, pastor Felix Simon of the Assemblée Chretienne RDP told CTV he can't figure out why his church was attacked on this holiest of weekends in the Christian faith.
"We have never had any problems, and we get along with everyone," said Simon.
Police said an accelerant was used to set the blaze.
"City councilor Frantz Benjamin is trying to organize help and support during the holiday weekend. The members say they're looking for a temporary hall to at least celebrate Easter on Sunday... but their heart may not be into it", reported CTV's Stephane Giroux.
Benjamin called the fire a tragedy since it happened during the Easter weekend.
Investigators spent the morning at the church.
No one was hurt in the blaze
