Montreal is getting a $53-million injection to help ease E.R. overcrowding.
Quebec Health Minister Gaetan Barrette gave the breakdown this morning on how the money would be spent in Montreal after a previous announcement of $165-million for measures to help free up beds in hospitals - $100M for beds and $65M for personnel.
Most of the money will go towards creating 700 new short term care beds in areas such as mental healthcare and convalescence.
The rest of the money - just over $17.5M - will go towards the hiring of 350 more workers for long term care (CHSLD) workers.
Facilities in the West Island alone are getting $1.4-million and 25 more CHSLD workers.
