There's word construction is set to begin at the end of the month on a long-awaited tunnel at the Vendome metro station.
The aim is to give wheelchair access from the metro and train stations to the superhospital.
CTV's Max Harrold reported it's a 2-year project, that part of the reason for that timetable is the project's complexity.
The Montreal Transit Corporation board gave the green light to a 50-million dollar contract for the construction phase of the project.
"It will include a complete overhaul of the Vendome metro station with a brand new and larger facade... the station itself is 36-years old. Inside, there'll be 5 elevators that will make the station accessible for the disabled. Vendoime will add to the 12 stations now equipped with elevators out of the total 68 stations" added Harrold.
An additional $26 million will be spent on studying ventilation, traffic, and communication
The project, costing $76-million, is scheduled to be finished by the fall of 2019.
