The continued and sometimes heavy downpouring of rain this week has flooded rivers, but has hit closer to home as well for many around the Montreal area.
Sewer backups in the Laurentians flooded dozens of homes overnight, forcing residents to evacuate and causing water damage.
In Ste-Therese and Rosemere, several neighbourhoods saw streets turn to shallow lakes, and basements oozing with rain and sewer water.
"We knew that it could happen, but not [to] this degree," one resident said early Friday.
