After getting an earful from flood victims at a public meeting Monday night in Pointe Claire, public security minister Martin Coiteux is once again urging them to be patient with compensation claims.
Coiteux told reporters Tuesday that his ministry has hired 90 additional employees to work on demands for compensation from the spring floods.
They told Coiteux during Monday night's meeting that it was taking too long to get the financial assistance they had been promised.
About 8,000 homes in 278 municipalities were affected by the flooding, and Coiteux says assessing everyone will take time.
He suggests it may take up to five weeks to have all the claims processed, and that affected families will know by the end of the summer how much in financial assistance they'll be entitled to.
