Quebec's Crown prosecutor's office will not be laying any charges against the SUV driver that collided with 18-year-old cyclist Clément Ouimet on the mountain last fall.
Ouimet, as aspiring competitive cyclist, was killed last Oct. 4 when the driver, a tourist from California, tried to make an illegal U-turn on Camillien-Houde Way.
Police investigated the crash and on Nov. 22, the passed their findings on to the Crown. They wouldn't say whether or not they were recommending any charges.
Ouimet's death renewed the debate in this city about cars, and their relationship with cyclists and pedestrians.
That incident led, at least indirectly, to the contentious move by the Plante administration to ban through traffic on Camillien-Houde Way.
