Keeping the cars inside the track and the fans safe for the inaugural Formula E races through the streets of Montreal this summer will cost the city of Montreal almost $17 million dollars to rent fences and barriers.
The Montreal Executive Committee is expected to award a $7.5 million contract today for six kilometres of metal barriers and concrete blocks.
Another contract worth $9 million will be handed out to rent fences for six years.
The Metro newspaper says that is in addition to the $4.6 million the city has committed to improving the streets for the races.
The two days of racing, July 29 and 30, will be held in the area bounded by Papineau, Viger, Berri and René-Lévesque Boulevard.
