A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the threat made against Muslim students that forced the evacuation of three Concordia University buildings Wednesday.
Shortly after midnight, Montreal police officers, S.W.A.T., and the canine unit were involved in the arrest on Darlington St. near Goyer in Côte-des-Neiges.
According to police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant, investigators managed to trace the origin of the original email to the man's home.
Investigators said later on Thursday morning that no traces of explosives were found at the apartment.
Brabant could not confirm if the individual is known to police, if he was a student at the school or his exact connection with the email. He said that information would be known after a full investigation is completed.
About 30 people were forced from their homes during the police operation. They were placed on buses and taken down the street from the scene while officers swept the area to ensure it was safe for everyone to return.
The arrest was made without incident and evacuees were allowed to return home after about an hour.
