Legal pot in Canada is still 14 months away, but Quebec's auto insurance board has already launched a don't-smoke-and-drive campaign.
The campaign launched on Tuesday, with French-language TV spots, and English radio spots.
The main thing the campaign is trying to impress upon drivers, especially those in the 16-24 age group, is that cannabis slows reaction times — something several studies shows is true.
Between 2011 and 2015, 18 percent of drivers who died on Quebec roads had cannabis in their blood. Among those aged 16 to 24, that figure is 30 percent.
Last week, the Trudeau government tabled a bill that would legalize pot across Canada by July 1, 2018.
