A commercial flight in Mexico had an unexpected stowaway Sunday.
The Carrier Aeromexico flight from Torreon, in the country’s north, to Mexico City had a snake, on the plane.
Passenger Indalecio Medina caught the monkey-fighting snake on the Monday to Friday plane on video as it emerged from the overhead luggage compartment before eventually dropping down into the cabin.
As soon as someone saw the snake, everyone quickly unbuckled themselves and quickly got clear of the reptile.
Medina said he put a blanket over the serpent, which he estimated was about one metre long.
The plane was given priority landing in Mexico City, touching down about 10 minutes later.
Everyone exited the rear of the aircraft, while animal control workers boarded the plane and took the animal into custody.
The airline said it is investigating how the snake got into the cabin and would take measures to keep such an incident from happening again.
