A 41-year-old acrobat who was seriously hurt after a five-meter fall during a performance in St. Leonard on Tuesday night will survive his injuries, according to the show's organizers.
At about 7:20 p.m. during the show Entre Nous at Wilfrid-Bastien park, the acrobat fell during a Chinese Pole performance. He suffered serious injuries to his head and back, and was taken to hospital in critical condition, but Montréal Complètement Cirque says he is now out of danger.
"At the time of the accident, he was quickly brought to hospital where he was treated for head trauma," a post reads on the group's Facebook page. "At this time, he remains in hospital under observation but we no longer fear for his life.
"We would like to thank people for the many messages of support for the artist."
The 'Entre Nous' show of the Complètement Cirque festival had three dates scheduled this week, but those performances have been cancelled.
Quebec's workplace health and safety board is investigating the accident.
