The vandalism attack on a handful of businesses on Ste. Catherine St. in Hochelaga this week could be just the start, according to an anonymous post on an anarchist's blog.
The author of the post called the smashed windows and paint soaked commodities "an act of war."
"We will not let these boutiques set up in peace - this peaceful facade which is nothing other than the invisibilization of the ongoing war against poor and marginalized people" states the blog.
Montreal police continue to investigate the acts of vandalism. According to investigators a dozen masked and hooded vandals were involved.
The post suggests that more attacks similar to the one that took place early Monday morning could be on the way.
"These boutiques are the nice face of a violent process that we want to sabotage, along with luxury cars, condos under construction, police cars patrolling the neighbourhood, and all other efforts put in place to make our neighbourhood sterile and controlled in the interests of property owners and the rich."
