A vandalized boat rental shop on the Lachine canal decided use social media to find out who the vandals were.
On Wednesday morning, staff walked in to see their property damaged and one of their new boats missing.
After filing a report to the police, owner Marc Bartschat decided to go one step further.
He screen grabbed footage of the two vandals faces captured by security cameras and posted it online.
Within 3 days, the post got over 500 shares.
“It’s just huge how social media can take a story and spread it around so easily like that,” said Dylan Trevis, Manager at H2O Adventures.
Trevis said part of the reason for turning to social media was because of their lack of success with police investigations in the past.
“What we had was no leads, and now all of a sudden we’re getting all sorts of phone calls and emails,” said Trevis.
“Hopefully it scares them and deters people from doing it in the future – for our community and for our business”, said Trevis.
