Just over a couple dozen patients at the Brunswick Pediatric Clinic in Pointe-Claire will have to go through a second round of vaccinations after a glitch in the system may have rendered their first shots ineffective.
The West Island clinic had to recall a vaccine after it was discovered the refrigerator they were stored in was not keeping them at the proper temperature.
Brunswick Pediatrics' head nurse told Global TV the anomaly was discovered in November by the clinic's staff. It was reported to public health officials, who then ordered the clinic to stop administering vaccines.
That order was recently lifted and affected patients have been given new appointments.
The good news is that there is no danger in receiving a second dose and the first dose was not dangerous, only potentially ineffective.
