The union representing Urgences Sante ambulance technicians in Montreal and Laval has received a strike mandate from it's membership.
The CSN-affiliated union says 960 paramedics voted 99.5% in favour of a general strike to support their contract demands.
Their last collective agreement expired in March of 2015.
Outstanding issues include wages and working conditions.
No date has been set for a walkout, but in the event of such a decision the union would be obliged to maintain essential services.
