Montreal police have confirmed the city's fourth homocide of 2018 after a 55-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition Saturday evening suffering from stab wounds to his upper body.
Police said it happened in an apartment in the Gay Village around 5:30pm at the corner of Beaudry and Boul. de Maisonneuve.
Police said the victim later died in hospital of his injuries and that they have a suspect in custody.
"The suspect in this case was on the scene when police arrived. So they arrested him and (brought) him to the detention centre. He is a man of 61-years-old and he is the brother of the victim," said a police spokesperson.
So far, no names have been released. The suspect is expected to appear in court as early as Monday.
