Police and their search dogs are combing an area in Saint-Cyprien-de-Napierville following an early morning crash that sent two people to hospital.
It happened at about 1:00 AM along Route 221, not far from the Lacolle border. For an unknown reason a car went off road, flipped, and then hit a tree.
Two people trapped inside the vehicle were rushed to hospital, one a 30-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries, the other passenger also with serious injuries but is expected to recover.
The driver, a man in his 20s, was nowhere to be found. A nearby resident contacted police at about 8:00 A.M. to say they saw a man in the area of the crash.
When police arrived there was a short chase on foot before the man was arrested. He was transported to hospital to be treated for injuries related to the crash.
An SQ spokesperson said the man could be charged for the hit-and-run causing an accident.
Investigators believe that speed is the likely culprit behind the crash.
