A 17-year-old girl is expected to survive her injuries after she was hit by a train on Tuesday afternoon at the Pierrefonds-Roxboro train station.
Police say the girl attempted to cross the tracks from one platform to another, and didn't see the oncoming train. She was apparently wearing headphones, and didn't hear the train, either.
The girl ended up being dragged about 50 feet, and was rushed to hospital suffering multiple injuries, including to her head.
She had been in critical condition through the night, but her condition has since stabilized.
Police have wrapped up their investigation into the incident, satisfied that nothing criminal was at play — that it was just an unfortunate accident.
Service was stopped on the Deux-Montagnes train line for several hours following the accident, and Montreal's commuter train authority, the RTM, is considering whether it needs to make any changes to the Pierrefonds-Roxboro station.
