Montreal police investigators had their hands full overnight after two incidents sent two men to hospital.
At about 2:40 a.m., officers were called to the corners of St. Hubert St. and de Maisonneuve Blvd. near the downtown bus station and Place Emilie-Gamelin.
At the scene they found a 30-year-old man, who is known to police, with stab wounds to his upper body. He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and was pronounced dead a few hours later.
Witnesses told police they saw two individuals get into a fight; one of the men stabbed the other and then fled the scene.
Earlier, at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to De Castille St. near Balzac Ave. in Montreal North after residents heard gunshots.
Officers found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to hospital and is expected to recover.
No arrests have been made in connection with either incident.
